Washington: Ukraine joining “NATO” in the current situation means declaring war against Russia.
NATO’s Secretary General stated that the leaders of this alliance agreed that Ukraine will be accepted as a member of NATO as soon as the necessary conditions are accumulated.
Hama news agency: Matthew Miller, director of the media office of the US State Department, said that Ukraine joining NATO in the current situation means a war between the US and Russia.
Miller stated in an interview with reporters on Tuesday (10th July): “Ukraine’s admission to NATO is not appropriate at this time because such an action would mean the entry of the United States into the war with Russia.”
He added, “Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America, has repeatedly emphasized that such an event (Ukraine’s membership in NATO) will not happen during his Presidential term.”
In the same direction, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday: “It is unprecedented and meaningless that no time frame is set for Ukraine’s invitation or membership in NATO at the North Atlantic Treaty Summit.”
According to Zelensky, “Being unsure about Ukraine’s membership in NATO means that there remains an opportunity to bargain over Ukraine’s membership in negotiations with Russia, and for Russia, this means a motivation to continue terror.”
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at the summit of the military alliance that NATO leaders agreed on a comprehensive and joint defense plan aimed at confronting against Russia.
Stoltenberg stated that NATO leaders agreed that Ukraine will be accepted as a member of the alliance as soon as the necessary conditions are met.
The leaders of the NATO member states started a two-day summit in the capital of Lithuania yesterday with the aim of declaring support for Ukraine against the Russian military attack.
At the same time, Ukraine, which is currently counter-attacking against Russian forces in its territory, is demanding full membership in the NATO military alliance.
